One of the greenest buildings in the capital set to spring up in W6
October 10
The ‘green’ rating for Latymer House, to be constructed by Hammersmith United Charities (HUC) at 2 Ravenscourt Road, Hammersmith, is ‘excellent’ – a category few modern buildings attain. Discussions suggest the first tenant might be a school or college.
Justin Clack from Hammersmith property firm Frost Meadowcroft, which is handling the letting, said that the building scored highly on the recognised environmental measure.
“Walls and roofs are planted with sedum, to encourage biodiversity,” he said of the three-storey building which has been given planning permission
by H&F Council.
“You can see similar green walls at the Westfield mall – the walls remove carbon dioxide.” HUC has approached
the development of its site sensitively, arranging meetings with neighbours to take on board any reservations before submitting its application.
